In the German occupied France of 1942, Daniel, a ten year old Jewish boy, finds refuge in the home of three sisters in a small Loire valley village. Lucie, a fifteen year old rebellious orphan girl lives with them.

When the SS take control of the village, members of a resistance unit, led by one of the sisters, are one by one captured and executed. When the Nazis leave after having achieved their brutal task, Daniel discovers the body of Lucie killed execution style by a bullet in the head.  It was she whom rumors had accused of betrayal.

Fifteen years later Daniel returns to the village in order to find the truth...
